Hi, I’m Kimberly.
I help military affiliated personnel, first responders, and women work through life’s tough times.
My Approach
Here’s what you can expect from me.
Collaborative
I believe there are two experts in the room: the client & the therapist. You, the client, are the expert of yourself & I am the expert of the therapy. We will work together to provide the best treatment for you.
No Nonsense
People generally come to therapy because something is not working in their lives. It does not behoove either of us if I sugarcoat, beat around the bush, or am not honest. Dr. Brene Brown (2018) is infamous for saying, “clear is kind, unclear is unkind.” As a former client recently texted me “I really miss your blunt feedback & kind understanding ways :)”
Warm
Therapy is hard work. As a professional and a client, I know this. I vow to push for change when appropriate & sit with you when change is not on the forefront; either way, you are getting empathy and compassion.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Multifaceted skills-based therapy focusing on distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness to reduce suffering. Clients are usually in a skills group concurrently with 1:1 therapy, and are able to receive 24/7 phone coaching.
Evidence Based Therapy Services
Cognitive Processing Therapy
Treatment using psychoeducation, Socratic questioning, and homework assignments (such as specific writing assignments about the trauma), to understand the client’s beliefs about the trauma and target stuck points and maladaptive thinking/coping skills.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
A structured and goal-oriented type of talk therapy that helps clients with their presenting concerns through changing the way they think or behave.

FAQ
-
First things first, it’s ok (& normal!) to be nervous. We'll start with a free consultation to determine if we are a good fit. You can request a consultation through the form on the contact us page, by emailing kimberly@resilientresp.com, or through call/text. If we both decide we are a good fit, you’ll receive an invitation to the online portal to complete the patient onboarding forms. These forms will need to be completed before our first scheduled session.

The amount of time someone spends in therapy depends on the reason(s) they are coming for therapy, type of therapy they engage in, time devoted to therapy, and finances. Generally clients meet for weekly sessions for 6-12 months, then phase out to biweekly sessions. Sometimes clients are in therapy for only a few months to work on something very acute and specific, and other times clients are in therapy for several years to work on deeper rooted concerns. After the first two meetings, your therapist can give you a better estimation of the expected duration of therapy. This will also be included in your Good Faith Estimate.

Session rates are based on the needs of the client (individual, couple or family therapy) and duration of therapy (60 or 90 minute sessions). Rates and insurance information can be found on the “Rates” tab.
-
Resilient Response Counseling is paneled with most insurance companies, including Aetna, Cigna, First Choice, Premera, Regence, TriWest, and United HealthCare. See the “Rates” tab for more information.
-
Currently all sessions are held online via a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. In person sessions in Pioneer Square may be offered in the future.
-
When we schedule a session time, that time is set aside for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for a 24 hour notice. If a session is a no-show or canceled within 24 hours the client is responsible for the full session rate. Insurance does not cover no-shows or cancellations.
-
It is important to me that therapy is affordable to all persons. If cost is a barrier to receiving services, please talk to me and we can discuss reduced rates or alternative solutions.

Resilient Response Counseling uses a Zoom HIPAA compliant platform for all therapy sessions. We have a business agreement with Zoom that is in compliance with all State and ethical regulatory requirements. Resilient Response Counseling uses Simple Practice as an Electronic Health Record, billing service, and for treatment related communication. Simple Practice is HIPAA compliant. If you decide to communicate with your therapist via text message, email, or phone call, you are agreeing to the risk of communicating via a non-HIPAA compliant platform. Lastly, therapists are bound to confidentiality with few exceptions; as mandatory reporters that includes special circumstances around immediate suicidality and harm to others. We do not have an obligation to communicate with any government organization without a court order or subpoena. Should Resilient Response Counseling be asked about your participation in therapy, without a release of information signed by you, we will vehemently deny access to that information.
